Avenues take charge of Arnos Vale Football League

Avenues United won both the First and Premier divisions of the Comsports/Computec/Hairoun Brewery/BDO Arnos Vale Football League, which concluded last weekend at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field.

First to be bagged was the First Division title, secured on Saturday, as Avenues, on the back of strikes from Nathaniel Williams and Gareth Leigertwood, beat National Properties Fair Hall 2-0.

Then, on Sunday, Avenues achieved the same margin of victory against System Three.

Scoring for Avenues were Myron Samuel and Glenford Ashton.

For winning the First Division, Avenues got $1,200, along with two cases of Hairoun products and 18 medals.

Second placed Fair Hall gained $800, a case of Hairoun products and 18 medals, with third placed Je Belle securing $400 and a trophy.

Premier Division champions Avenues earned $1,500, two cases of Hairoun products and 18 medals. For placing second, System Three pocketed $1,000, one case of Hairoun products and 18 medals.

Je Belle won the Under-17 Division, System Three placed second and Largo Height, third.

System Three’s Shayne Lynch was voted the best midfielder, with Avenues’ Deno John, best defender. John also held on to the player of the Premier Division final.

Nathaniel Williams was named player of the First Division final.

Kenyan Lynch of Avenues won the award of best goalkeeper, while Aloyide Daniel of American University, with 11 goals, was the top goalscorer.

Twayne Matthews of Je Belle collected the award of most promising player.

And, Fair Hall secured the most disciplined team trophy.
