Richand Hoyte takes SVGCC’s single tennis title

Richand Hoyte trumped the 2017 SVG Tennis Association’s SVG Community College singles tennis title, last Thursday at the National Tennis Centre at Villa.

Facing Arnel Horne in the final, Hoyte, who played unbeated throughout the tournament, came away champion, winning 6-0, 7-5. Among his list of wins, were a 4-0, 4-0 triumph over Aldrick Sam, as well as a 4-0, 4-1 defeat of Sobato Mc Dowall.

Hoyte also saw off Elroy Samuel 4-0, 4-1 and beat Kehawn Butcher 4-0, 4-2. 

Docking in third was Gabriella Benn, who defeated Nia Davy 4-2, 4-2, in the play-off which preceded last Thursday’s final.

The tennis tournament follows the football and netball competitions already completed on the SVGCC’s sports calendar for 2017/2018.
