Walters, Hooper capture cricket awards

The Team Rivals pair of Casmond Walters and Asif Hooper took awards last Saturday night at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex, as the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc staged its Gala Awards and Dinner.

Walters, in the NLA Neil Williams 20/20 Competition, was the leading run scorer, tallying 514 runs.

He added 16 wickets to his name, to be the best all-rounder.

Meanwhile, Asif Hooper followed suit his teammate Walters, by copping the Best All-rounder in the NLA Premier Division.

Hooper was the top wicket taker, with 45 scalps and scored 230 runs.

Others, though, were standouts in other departments and in other competitions.

The top wicket-taker in the 20/20 competition was Alston Bobb of Victors One, who captured 24 wickets.

Compiling the most runs in the Premier Division was Desron Maloney of Police Two, who tallied 439 runs.

The top performers in the NLA First Division, were William “Bill” Edwards, Javid Harry and Shammon Hooper.

Edwards, who represents Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors, for the second year in a row, was the division’s top run getter. He scored 314 runs.

Harry of Smashers, was top wicket-taker, scalping 23 wickets, and Shammon Hooper of Providence Electronic Solutions North Leeward was the best all-rounder, scoring 290 runs and taking 14 wickets.

Victors One won the 20/20 competition, with Team Rivals coming in second.

FLOW Radcliffe retained the premier division title, ahead of Police Two and Team Rivals, in that order.

And, North Leeward copped the first division, with Unique Warriors, second.
