SVGBF hands out basketballs to schools

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation (SVGBF), last week embarked on a drive to give out basketballs to help in the promotion of the sport in the secondary schools.

The basketballs were sourced in conjunction with the St Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee, with the government of St Vincent and the Grenadines providing a waiver on duties.

President of the SVGBF Wayne Williams said the distribution of the balls is part of a wider pathway being traversed by his organisation.

He said that it is part and parcel of the “feeder system”, in which the schools’ programme and grassroots progamme, are taking shape.

The SVGBF held a 3 X 3 schools’ tournament last Friday afternoon at the Girls’ High School hard court.

“We hope that this initiative will contribute to the development of sports in the school system and the youth of SVG,” Williams related.
