Rain shortens abbreviated Masters’ 20/20 Cricket fixtures

An abbreviated weekend of cricket in the SVG Masters 20/20 competition, which saw only three matches set for last Saturday, was further curtailed by rain.

But, it was sufficient for Stanley Browne’s Stubbs, JG and Sons Glamorgan and Sion Hill to post victories.

Stubbs defeated Marriaqua by eight wickets at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Marriaqua got to 60 for 7 off their 10 overs allotment, because of rain.

Micah Joseph took 2 for 2, to be Stubbs’ most successful bowler.

In response, Stubbs reached 66 for 2 from 6.2 overs. Stubbs’ victory march was propelled by Leon Samuel’s 52 not out.

At Buccament, Glamorgan also had an eight-wicket win over neighbours Kirk DaSilva’s La Croix.

Batting first, La Croix made 83 for 5 from their reduced lot of 16 overs. Burt Bowman top scored with 35 not out.

Bowling for Glamorgan, Lennox Jack had 2 for 6 and Elvis John 2 for 9.

Glamorgan, led by 39 not out from Clyde Mofford, replied with 85 for 2 from 11 overs.

And, Sion Hill registered a nine-wicket triumph over Pastures in a 10-over per side affair at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.

Pastures were reduced to 57 for 3 from their 10 overs. Rohan Ash scored 23.

Ashley Cordice then stroked 36 not out, to pilot Sion Hill to 58 for 1 from just 5.1 overs.

No matches were scheduled for Sunday, to make way for the official opening of the Hope Playing Field, located in Vermont.
