Michel Creese, Rondre John take TT titles

Michel Creese captured the pre-cadet and cadet titles and Rondre John, the junior, when the finals of the SVG Table Tennis Association National Championships were contested last Saturday at the West St George Secondary School’s Auditorium.

In taking the pre-cadet title, Creese had to overcome the secondary schools’ champion Caleb Howard 5-11, 11-4, 12-10, 12-10.

Creese added his second title, when he had to fight off Akeil De Roche 11-6, 5-11, 11-7, 11-8.

De Roche had earlier whipped Howard 3-0 in the quarter-finals, with scores of 11-4, 11-6, 11-8 and had a 3-2 triumph over top seed Rondre John, winning 15-13, 12-14, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7.

But John pulled out all the stops to see off three-time and defending champion Andre Mitchell.

John won three games to two at 10-12, 11-6, 11-8, 7-11, 11-5.

In the presentation ceremony which followed, Michel Creese was awarded the Most Outstanding Cadet Player’s trophy, while Rondre John copped the Most Outstanding Junior Player award.

And, Akeil De Roche was adjudged the most promising cadet player.
