Rock Hard Cement Men’s Doubles Tennis Tournament serves off Monday

A collaboration among the Grassroot Tennis Club, the agents of Rock Hard Cement and the proprietors of the Grand View Hotel court, has resulted in the staging of the Rock Hard Cement Men’s Doubles Tournament, which serves off on Monday, November 6.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Grand View Hotel, the eight top men’s doubles teams will go toe to toe, to see who will emerge as champion, and stash away the attractive cash prizes that are on offer.

Among those to grace the court will be former national junior champion Corey Huggins, who has since moved on to coaching.

Speaking at the handing-over of the sponsorship cheque last Wednesday, head of the Grassroot Tennis Club Grant Connell said it was pleasing that, notwithstanding the economic climate, Rock Hard’s agents could have come forward and aid in the rebuilding of the sport.

“This tournament would undoubtedly help in rekindling the competitive spirit, as tournaments at the national level are solely lacking,” Connell reasoned.

Set to be completed with the final on Sunday, November 12, from 4 p.m., the doubles tournament will be twinned with the Tennis For Hope Charity event, which will be put on by the Grassroot Tennis Club, also at that venue.

Registration forms for the doubles tournament can be collected by contacting telephone number 784-494-8225.
