Bequia to host ‘Bring your Balls and Come’ programme
When the âBring Your Balls and Comeâ initiative lands on Bequia this Saturday at the Clive Tannis Playing Field, it will be looking to outdo the last hosting held at the South Rivers Playing Field, two Saturdays ago.
The third in the flow of activities geared at helping to put a dent in crime through football, following events at the Calliaqua Playing Field and Sharpes Playing Field, the South Rivers edition proved to be the largest.
A turnout of over 70 youngsters, from the South Rivers, Park Hill and Colonarie communities also saw a donation of 20 balls from parliamentary representative for North Central Windward Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves.
The Prime Ministerâs donation doubled the input of the organizers of the event â the Grassroot Tennis Club.
Head of the Grassroot Tennis Club Grant Connell is projecting that the Bequia leg could see the Northern Grenadines representative and Opposition Leader Dr Godwin Friday matching Gonsalvesâ contribution, or even surpassing it.
Contributing to the Bequia âBring Your Balls and Comeâ are Lulleyâs Tackle Shop, which has donated five balls, Chill Spot at Arnos Vale throwing in two, likewise SVG Consul General to Canada Fitz Huggins with two and Beatz Auto Care at Arnos Vale, one.
The concept of the âBring Your Balls and Comeâ is for the parliamentary representative for the constituencies to sustain the Saturday morning football programme.
