Tennis for Hope targets diabetes, prostate cancer

The Grassroot Tennis Club (GTC) will host its annual event ‘Tennis for Hope’, at the Grandview Hotel Tennis Court on Sunday, November 12, serving off at 4 p.m.

This year’s event would divert its attention to raise funds for the awareness of a non-communicable disease, diabetes, as well as prostate cancer.

Hence, the funds raised will be utilized to facilitate the process of having 100 men do the requisite test. 

 According to head of the GTC Grant Connell: “We will hopefully work along with the good people at Sigma Laboratory in our quest to break the fear factor of men getting over the hurdle of being tested”.

 Connell, therefore, is making a plea for all the survivors of prostate cancer and those living with diabetes to all join in the occasion, share their experiences and be able to relate and encourage men to deal with the two.

 “This event in the past has been quite successful and this year we decided to fine-tune it and directing the funds raised to getting results, which would hopefully point us, as a society, to what exactly we are up against and how best we can deal with it as a people,” Connell concluded.
