Greiggs captured the Valley Sports Committee Richland Park Nine-A-Side competition last Sunday, at the Richland Park Oval, with a 6-2 win over Combined Youths.
A hat-trick each from Valdo Anderson and Kenford Collins accounted for Greiggsâ tally, while Benjamin Williams and Dwight Allen netted for Combined Youths.
In the third place playoff, which preceded the final, a goal each from Mike Browne and Micah Findlay powered Everready Downstreet to their 2-1 win over Vulturez. Teworne Stephens scored for Vulturez.
Greiggs, who played unbeaten in the competition, collected $2,000, along with the challenge trophy, the first place trophy and five cases of Hairoun Beer, while Combined Youths got $1,000 and a trophy, and Downstreet gained a trophy and $700.
Valdo Anderson of Greiggs was named the competitionâs Most Valuable Player, while Shandel Samuel of Hard Ballers was the Leading Goal Scorer.
Combined Youthsâ Kizani Thomas was voted the Best Goalkeeper; Ronaldo Edwards of Greiggs, Best Defender; and Romano Browne of Yards Man United, Best Midfielder.
Meanwhile, Demar Williams of Combined Youths and Yaszeem Dascent of Marriaqua Future Stars were recognized as the two young promising players in the league. Hard Ballers were adjudged the Most Disciplined Team.
Eleven teams, two fewer than in 2016, contested this yearâs competition.
Country Meet Town Outa Trouble copped the competition last year.
