Police standing firm in SVG Masters 20/20 Cricket Competition

RSVG Police won a faster run rate over Ruddy’s Electrical Barrouallie last Sunday at the Sion Hill Playing Field, to remain firm in the SVG Masters 20/20 Cricket Competition.

Barrouallie were dismissed for 92 from 19.5 overs. David Porter led the way with 23, as Parnel Browne captured 3 for 4, Elmore Alexander, 3 for 15 and Carlos Sampson, 2 for 9, shared Police’s bowling honours.

Joseph Bascombe scored 53 not out, as the Police team was 71 for 1 from 8.5 overs, when rain stopped play. However, they were ahead of the asking rate at the time of the intervention.

Also trumping on a rain-affected weekend were North Leeward, Mustique Company Masters and Bequia Cricket Association Masters.

North Leeward beat Sion Hill by 51 runs.

North Leeward posted 120 for 3 from 15 overs, a reduced encounter because of rain. Orville Franklyn was the top scorer with 41 and Orlando Charles contributed 33.

Bowling for Sion Hill, Sylvester Vanloo picked off 2 for 22.

Sion Hill packed in at 69 in 13.4 overs, with Lauron Baptiste scoring 25. Leading North Leeward’s bowling were Donovan Charles, who had 2 for 4 and Orlando Charles, 2 for 15.

Meanwhile, Mustique Company Masters registered a 75-run win over Pastures.

Elroy Baptiste stroked 78 and Chadwick Carrington, 43, to see Mustique Company Masters to 158 for 4 from 17 overs. Robbie Hackshaw had figures of 2 for 18.

Pastures could only reach 86 for 9 from their allotted 17 overs.  Kirk Hamlett’s 2 for 2 proved to be the best bowling returns for Mustique Company Masters.

And, Bequia Cricket Association Masters beat JG and Sons Glamorgan by three wickets.

Glamorgan scored 66 for 6 from 12 overs, with James George scoring 21.

Roland Blake captured 3 for 21 and Ellis Lavia, 2 for 28, bowling for Bequia.

Burton Forde then slammed 37, as Bequia Cricket Association Masters responded with 67 for 7 off 10.1 overs. Emerald Samuel hauled in 3 for 15, bowling for Glamorgan.

The competition gains speed this weekend with seven matches.

On Saturday at Park Hill, Marriaqua play AR & G Trucking Ptani; North Leeward and Pastures meet at Buccament and at Sion Hill, J G and Sons Glamorgan face Stanley Browne Stubbs at Sion Hill. All matches are set to bowl off at 2 p.m.

Sunday’s matches begin at 10 a.m., with Computec Belfongo taking on Mustique Company Masters at Park Hill and RSVG Police versus Sion Hill at Sion Hill.

Then from 2 p.m., Teachers Credit Union North East take on Glamorgan at Park Hill and at Sion Hill, Kirk Da Silva La Croix entertain Marriaqua.
