VINLEC North Leeward 20/20 Cricket final set for Sunday

The final of the 2017 VINLEC North Leeward 20/20 Cricket Competition is set for this Sunday at the Petit Bordel Playing Field, with a 2 p.m. start.

 But the finalists will be known this Saturday and Sunday morning, as things did not go according to plans by the organizers, as there is still one outstanding quarter-final to be determined.

Ajuba and Carlos James Troumaca Starlight will battle for the last semi-final place this Saturday from 10 a.m.

The winner of this match plays defending champion Sweetie Pie Bakery Peto Stars in the second semi-final, Sunday morning from 10.

The first semi-final is set for Saturday from 2 p.m., and will feature Robertson Surveying Future Legends and RSVG Police.

Peto Stars, Future Legends and RSVG Police, booked their semi-final places last weekend.

The 2016 winners defeated House of Graphics Summerset by 17 runs.

Peto Stars scored 127 for 5 off 17 overs. The match was reduced because of rain. Ortis Matthews hit 35.

In reply, Summerset fell for 110 off 16 overs, despite the efforts of Rawdon Bentick, who scored 43.

Meanwhile, Future Legends ousted Kishore Shallow Coulls Hill Rangers by 40 runs.

Future Legends posted 147 for 7 off 17 overs, as again rain affected the proceedings.

 Rickford Walker stroked 58, while Leon Quashie took 2 for 13 and Romano Rouse, 2 for 27.

Coulls Hill Rangers were dismissed for 107 from16 overs. Atticus Browne top scored with 34 and Leon Quashie, 31. Winston Samuel snared 3 for 18 and Oswald Soleyn, 2 for 10.

And, RSVG Police were better than Ruddy’s Electrical by a faster run rate.

Police batted first and scored 107 for 3 in a 10-over affair. Desron Maloney slammed 50 and Selwick Caine contributed 26.

Ruddy’s Electrical were restricted to 34 for 4 off 8 overs when rain ended play.

 Ruddy’s Electrical, at that point of the rain interruption, needed to be at 86 after 8 overs.
