Inter-Schools football season kicks off
The Inter-Schools football season kicked off on Friday, October 13, with a day of matches at the Richmond Hill Playing Field.
The Inter-Primary Schoolsâ Football Festival started the day with Richland Park Government and Kingstown Preparatory School emerging winners.
Richland Park narrowly shot passed St Maryâs 2 goals to 1, with Jelon Scott netting at the 19th and 22nd minute. However, St Maryâs pulled one back for the team when Kedal Hector converted a free kick in the 26th minute.
The secondary school ballers also shared in the glory, with the Tyrone âTweetyâ Spence and the Sylvester âScobyâ Taylor Shield Cup matches.
The Tyrone âTweetyâ Spence Shield was an all-Leeward affair and it was the Central Leeward Secondary School who reigned supreme, as they defeated Petit Bordel Secondary 4 goals to 2.
Jamary Davis netted twice for Central Leeward in the 30th and 35th minute, while Javed Hunte and Osyan Velox scored in the 2nd and 49th minute.
Kishorn Alexander and Cleon Westfield were the goal scorers for Petit Bordel Secondary.
Central Leeward were again winners when they copped the Sylvester âScobyâ Taylor Shield, outscoring Dr JP Eustace Memorial 3-nil.
Goal scorers were Travis Fraser in the 14th and 41st minute and Shamal Reid scored in the 25th minute.
The competition continues with another round of matches in both the primary and secondary championships, beginning on Monday.
