North East, RSVG Police roll on in Masters Cricket Competition


Defending champions of the SVG Masters 20/20 Cricket Competition – Teachers Union North East and former winners – RSVG Police remained perfect after last weekend’s round of matches.

North East added Marriaqua to their list of wins by 110 runs.

Elton Williams hit 84 and Harvey Pope – 64, to post 183 for 6 off 18 overs, as the match was reduced.

Elroy Nanton was Marriaqua’s best bowler, taking 2 for 29.

Marriaqua fell for 73, in 12.3 overs, with Cornelius Springer snaring 3 for 15.

Meanwhile, RSVG Police defeated North Leeward by 11 runs.

RSVG Police made 113 for 9 from their 20 overs; Elgin Richards got 23.

Bowling for North Leeward, Kenneth Lewis picked up 3 for 27.

In response, North Leeward were dismissed for 102 in 19.1 overs. William Edwards hit 23 and Lennox Douglas, 22.

Elmore Alexander, 2 for 14, Sigmon Allen, 2 for 15 and Parnel Browne 2 for 19 yielded the wickets for RSVG Police.

Also winning in the fourth round of matches were Stanley Browne’s Stubbs, Bequia Cricket Association Masters, Mustique Company Masters and Computec Belfongo.

Stubbs beat Kirk DaSilva’s La Croix by seven wickets.

La Croix got to 73 for 5 off 16 overs, as the match was reduced because of rain. Basil Weeks scored 23 and Patrick Thomas 21.

Stubbs’ bowling saw Micah Joseph taking 2 for 6 and Ricky Thomas 2 for 10,

Stubbs took 8. 3 overs to reach 75 for 3. Micah Joseph struck 29 not out, while Raymond Ryan had 3 for 24, bowling for La Croix.

Bequia Cricket Association Masters stopped AR&G Ptani by 62 runs.

Bequia Cricket Association Masters piled on 217 for 5 off 20 overs, with Burton Forde striking 76 and Ronnie Gregg, 40.

Cassius Welcome had figures of 2 for 29 for Ptani, who responded with 155 for 9 off 20 overs. Isaac Haywood, 40 not out and Zenus James, 25, were the lead scorers.

For Bequia Cricket Association Masters, Calvert Hazell took 3 for 23 and Vibert Williams, 3 for 21.

Trumping by six wickets were Mustique Company Masters over Rudy’s Electrical Barrouallie.

Barrouallie was dismantled by the bowling of Michael Charles, who had 3 for 15 and Andy Spring, 2 for 11; they were bowled out for 66 off 17.4 overs

Chadwick Carrington – 34 and Oneil Thomas – 24, saw Mustique Company Masters to 71 for 4 off 10.2 overs.

And, Belfongo earned a 25-run win over Sion Hill.

Belfongo’s 136 for 3 off 20 overs was based on Denis Byam’s 39, Jocema Browne’s 34 and Arrington Burgin’s 21.

William Edwards got 2 for 24, bowling for Sion Hill.

Despite Ashley Cordice’s 52, Sion Hill could only make 111, dismissed in 18.2 overs.

Junior Bacchus had the standout figures of 4 for 5; Felix Greaves took 3 for 23 and Cassius Bascombe 2 for 25, bowling for Computec.
