SV United add Diamonds Football title to list
SV United added the Hairoun Beer Diamonds Football league title to their list of local pieces of silverware last Sunday at the Diamonds Playing Field.
SV United, national First Division winners in 2013, have also been regular winners of the North East Football League and the Biabou League and Knock-out titles.
But facing up against first-timers Caesarâs Real Estate Defenders in the Diamonds final, SV United had to depend on kicks from the penalty spot, winning 4-3.
This, after both teams had played to a 3-3 draw in regulation time.
Shorn Browne had two goals and Kemron Osment, one, for SV United in regulation time.
For Caesarâs Real Estate Defenders, Romario Dennie netted twice and Ronaldo Edwards added the other.
The two finalists had contrasting wins in the semi-final match-ups.
SV United saw off Youngsters FC, 2-0, with a goal each from Kemron Osment and Shorn Browne.
On the other hand, Caesarâs Real Estate Defenders had a 4-2 win over Biabou FC in kicks from the penalty spot, after they had levelled their encounter one goal apiece.
Dorian Dallaway had netted for Defenders and Omar Thomas for Biabou FC.
Youngsters FC, for the second year running, took the third spot on Saturday, beating Biabou FC, 6-2 in the play-off.
SV United, who were runners-up to Computec Vincy Masters in 2016, earned $2,500; Caesarâs Real Estate Defenders collected $1,000 and Youngsters FC, $500.
