James Bentick retakes senior CASA title … Barbados, overall champs
Vincentian James Bentick was the lone member of the OECS team to lift an individual title, when the National Lotteries Authority XXV Senior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) tournament concluded, here in St Vincent and the Grenadines, last Saturday.
Bentick won the 40 and Over male title. He added the 2017 title to wins achieved in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Bentick was one of five winners in the veteransâ category. Like Bentick, another multiple title holder, Barbadian Mark Sealey retained the Menâs Over-50, thus making it four in a row.
Meanwhile, Richard Hart of Trinidad and Tobago completed the hat-trick of titles in the Menâs Over 60.
Winning the Women Over-40 was Rhea Khan of Trinidad and Tobago, with Lyn Decambra-Mc Leod of Barbados installed as the 50 and Over Womenâs champion.
When the week ended, Barbados had notched up their ninth overall title.
In making it win number nine, after counting titles in 1993, 2001, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015, Barbados retained the veteransâ category for the seventh straight time, was second in the womenâs team competition and third in the menâs.
Trinidad and Tobago, the 2016 champions, slipped to third, with Guyana second and the OECS fourth.
The other competing countries, finishing in this order, were Bermuda, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
Guyana solidified their second place by winning the menâs and womenâs teams titles.
In the Guyanese teamâs triumphs, they had a 3-2 win at the expense of Jamaica in menâs play, and also defeated Barbados women 3-2 in the finals.
