The Sean Stanley Table Tennis Academy (SSTTA) hosted a one-day tournament on Saturday at the West St George Secondary School, with competition in two age categories.
Michel Creese secured the Under-13 singles title, when he beat Caleb Howard 11-8, 6-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, in a thrilling fiveâsetter.
Meanwhile, in the Under-15 division, Juwan Howard defeated Akeil DeRoche of tennis fame 13-15, 11-9 7-11, 12-10, 11-9, in another keenly contested final.
Deroche, though, was in winnersâ row when he teamed up with Caleb Howard to defeat Dureese Nelson and Juwan Howard in straight sets, 12-10, 11-8, to cop the doubles title.
Last Saturdayâs oneâday tournament was a prelude to the SSTTAâs hosting of a group of players from Barbados, led by Kevin Farley, a top Barbadian table tennis player.
While here, the Barbadians will be engaged in a series of matches.
