SVGCA Inc welcomes newly selected committee member

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc (SVGCA Inc) on Monday, 31st July, at a press conference at its office at Arnos Vale, presented to the media its newest executive member – Dyke Cato.

A former St Vincent and the Grenadines off-spinner, Cato fills the vacant committee member spot, left void by the resignation of Roxell John last June.

Explaining the choice of Cato, president of the SVGCA Inc Kishore Shallow revealed: “We had offered it to (Andrew) Bramble… he was the next person in the election … If we go back to the December election, Dyke Cato had indicated to come on the executive as a committee member, unfortunately and fortunately, as well, he had to attend a funeral and could not make it [to the Annual General Meeting]”.

Shallow added, “Everything happens for a reason and I really believe that the opportunity to have somebody like Dyke Cato on board is a blessing in disguise … That is how the other nine members on the executive feel about this opportunity to replace Mr (Roxell) John. Since the appointment of Mr Dyke Cato, who enthusiastically accepted the vote of confidence from us and he has pledged his commitment to cricket …there has been a seamless transition.”

Cato pledged his commitment towards ensuring that many of the players who emerge from the Windward side of the island, their talents are farmed and not go to waste, as has happened in the past.

Apart from his role as committee member, Cato is a trained scorer and performs as a statistician and analyst.

The full executive of the SVGCA Inc reads, Kishore Shallow – president; Miles Bascombe – first vice-president; Denis Byam – second vice-president; Samuel Holder – secretary; Jenry Ollivierre – treasurer; Cleton Burnett – assistant secretary/treasurer; committee members – Deighton Butler, Samantha Lynch, Roland Wilkinson and Dyke Cato.
