Peto Stars start defence of VINLEC North Leeward cricket title

Defending champions Carlos James Peto Stars made a winning start in the 2017 VINLEC North Leeward Twenty/20 cricket competition, which began on Sunday, 30th July at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.

  Troumaca Starlight made 71 all out off 14.4 overs, with Kentish John scoring 21. Kemrick Westfield took 3 for 7 and Vangel Small, 3 for 15.

 Peto Stars were 37 without loss after six overs, when rain forced the abandonment of the match.

 Peto Stars were ahead by 15 runs of the required rate. Vidal Edwards was 19 not out and Otis Matthews, 18 not out.

 Also Future Legends defeated Warriors by seven wickets.

Warriors scored 87 off 13.1-overs. Ronaldo Coombs top scored with 23, while Elron Lewis chipped in with 21. Christopher Howe bagged 5 for 25 and Rajiv Roberts, 2 for 7.

Future Legends replied with 89 for 3 off 8.3-overs, with Oswald Soleyn scoring 51 not out. Player of the Match was Christopher Howe.

 Upsetters of Chateaubelair will engage Big League of Rose Bank at 1 30 p.m. on Saturday, also at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.

  Eleven teams are competing in two zones in the preliminary round. Zone A comprises Ajuba of Spring Village, Robertson Surveying Future Legends of Rose Hall, Warriors, Somerset, and Rudy’s Electrical. In Zone B are Peto Stars, Carlos James Troumaca Starlight, Upsetters, Big League, the RSVG Police and Kishore Shallow Coulls Hill.  v
