Bocce focus for SOSVG’s observation of EKS Day

Playing the sport of Bocce (Buh-chee), at the Old Public Library yard last Thursday afternoon, was the choice of Special Olympics St Vincent and the Grenadines to commemorate the seventh edition of Eunice Kennedy-Shriver (EKS) Day.

With participation of the staff of the Alliance Française St Vincent and the Grenadines, volunteers and other partners, the day’s activities paid homage to Kennedy-Shriver, who was a strong advocate of Special Olympics.

During her period of advocacy, Eunice Kennedy Shriver campaigned for people to live in a more unified society, in sports, in the community and in the workplace.

She promoted acts of inclusion, acceptance and unity for and with people with intellectual disabilities.

SOSVG, hence, joined others globally in celebrating the day, which seeks to bring together people with and without intellectual disabilities in various activities to honour the inspiration, impact and indomitable spirit of Eunice Kennedy-Shriver.
