Outa Trouble One to defend PCCU softball cricket title

Defending champions of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T20 Softball Cricket Competition Country meets Town Outa Trouble One has another chance to be crowned title holders for the second year in a row.

They earned their place in the final after beating Street Fighters by nine wickets in their semi-final showdown at the Richland Park Oval, last Sunday.

Street Fighters, after being inserted, were dismissed for 60 in 17.3 overs. Sunil James captured 3 for 27 and Wesrick Straugh, 2 for 3.

Outa Trouble One then replied with 64 for 1 from 9.5 overs, with Saski Weekes scoring 33 not out.

In quarter-final action on the weekend, Owia Young Strikers defeated Dr Thomas Injectors by 38 runs to secure their berth in the semi-finals.

Owia Young Strikers, batting first, reached 109 for 6 off 20. Hyron Shallow stroked 59, a knock which included three sixes and six fours.

Dr Thomas Injectors were then dismissed for 71 in 19.1 overs, as Zanroy Baptiste grabbed 3 for 7 and Hyron Shallow, 3 for 3.

In the second quarter-final, in a clash of two previous winners, Gairy Construction Simple Boyz outplayed CGM Gallagher Novice by 10 wickets.

Novice, batting first, reached 112 for 6 from 20 overs. Elton Williams led with 36, which saw him hitting one four and four sixes.

Simple Boyz then raced to 117 without loss from 11.1 overs. Jabari Cunningham’s slammed two fours and ten sixes in his 78 not out and Stein Joseph, 26 not out.

On Saturday, from 1:30 p.m., Gairy Construction Simple Boyz will meet Owia Young Strikers in the second semi-final, with the winners meeting Country Meet Town Outa Trouble One.

The final is set for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The third place play-off will see Street Fighters meeting the losers of the semi-final match between Gairy Construction Simple Boyz and Owia Young Strikers from 10 a.m. on Sunday.
