Burton Forde hits ton in Bequia 20/20 cricket

Former national footballer Burton Matthew Forde hit a century, 111, last Sunday for Davis Construction Port Elizabeth Masters at the Clive Tannis Playing Field, as the Bequia Premier League 20/20 Cricket competition resumed after a two-week break for national Carnival celebrations.

Forde’s knock and Calvin Hazell’s 53 propelled Port Elizabeth Masters to 253 for 3 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Bequia Venture Royal Challengers were held up for 161 for 8 off their 20 overs; Ian Gonsalves lashed 46 and Mac Neil Farrell, 22.

Roland Ollivierre had 3 for 20, as Port Elizabeth Masters trumped by 92 runs.

Others in winners’ row were Monica Cash and Carry Port Elizabeth and Sugar Reef Bequia United.

On Saturday, Monica Cash and Carry Port Elizabeth gained a four-wicket victory over Friendship United.

Friendship United made 162 for 7 off 20 overs; Alrick Pompey and John Miller both hit 27, Verden Baptiste, 23, Michael Millar, 22, and Desbert Yorke, 20. Romano Warren picked off 3 for 28.

In response, Port Elizabeth scored 164 for 6 off 17.4-overs; Ryan Richards made 48, and Kenrick Cozier, 39.

Bowling for Friendship United, Alrick Pompey took 3 for 32 and Verden Baptiste had 2 for 51.

And, Sugar Reef Bequia United defeated Fully Loaded by 50 runs. Bequia United scored 254 for 5 off 20 overs. The multi-talented Cosmos Hackshaw, who also plays basketball and who made the senior national football squad last year, scored 66; Rickford Walker stroked 57, Chelson Stowe, 52 and Adinol Richards, 35.

Olrick Brackin, 2 for 31, and Primus Nanton, 2 for 33, were Fully Loaded’s most successful bowlers.

Fully Loaded’s response was 204 for 7 off 20 overs; Mikron McDowall had 79, Denson Hoyte, 32 and Olrick Brackin, 22.

Cosmus Hackshaw took 4 for 35, and Chelson Stowe, 2 for 30.
