Vincentian assistant referees on CONCACAF U-15s Boys’ list

Two Vincentian assistant referees in Shesford John and Kennie Richards, have been appointed as match officials for next month’s CONCACAF Under-15 Boys’ Championship in Bradenton, Florida, USA.

The two were recommended by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Referees Association, and accepted.

Both John and Richards are residents of Barroualllie and are embracing the opportunity afforded them.

John, who has been a practising assistant referee in local competitions for the past five years, responded to his selection stating: “It is a great feeling to be accepted, since the tournament would serve as an assessment for my readiness to be accepted on the FIFA list of referees for 2018”.

He added: “I am preparing myself accordingly, to serve at this tournament and would be doing my best to make myself, our local referees association and St Vincent and the Grenadines proud”.

In the case of Richards, he related: “Well, it’s a great feeling, because I was working towards it for a few now and it’s a start towards where I want to go… The hard work is not yet over, because I am not on the FIFA list as yet”.

The CONCACAF Under-15 Boys’ Championship will be held from August 13 –19 and a release from CONCACAF said it will be using this championship to evaluate the readiness of each participant to be on the 2018 FIFA List.

The two Vincentians are set to arrive in the USA August 11 and will depart August 20 or sooner.

According to the release, a pre-championship seminar will be held for all match officials on August 12, where all participants are expected to have use of their laptop computers.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines currently have one FIFA referee in Moet Gaymes and two assistant referees in Danroy Barker and Kenron Daniel.
