Wright on target for Saints

Rolando “Maffie” Wright captured a match haul of 12 for 38, to carve out an innings and 133-run win for Guardian General Saints over Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO in the lone National Lotteries Authority Premier Division fixture of the national cricket programme, last weekend at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Wright, a former St Vincent and the Grenadines left-arm orthodox spinner, bagged 7 for 23 in ASCO’s first innings of 57, while Rommel Currency chipped in with 2 for 10.

Dexter Whinfield, with 22, was ASCO’s leading batsman.

ASCO, who have had a miserable 2017 outing, had trailed by 178, and Saints enforced the follow on.

This proved correct, as ASCO were bundled out for 65 in 14.1 overs.

Wright continued where he left off, taking 5 for 15 and Ray Charles had 4 for 33.

Saints had batted first, posting 235 for 8 declared, with Zane Edwards missing out on a century – out for 98. The left-hander slammed 7 fours and 6 sixes, while Wright’s 39 contained 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Vincent Cupid contributed 37.

Bowling for ASCO, Kelshun Da Silva pegged 3 for 50 and Nelron Toby had 2 for 37.
