SVG set for participation in NACAC Age Group Championships
St Vincent and the Grenadines will be represented at the 2017 North American, Central America and Caribbean NACAC Age Group Championships, to be held June 17- 18, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
The athletes selected to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines are Gail Ann John, Almarie Providence, Cody Bartley and Andrew Mapp in the Under-13, while the Under-15 athletes are Grenisha Thomas, Asonne Olliviere, Jayden Delpesche, and Verol Sam.
The team will be accompanied by coach Chester Morgan and coach/chaperone Chantel Legair.
The NACAC Age Group Championships is organized around a multi-event concept, where the Under-13 athletes are required to compete in a pentathlon and the Under-15 athletes a heptathlon.
The Under-13 male athletes will compete in the 60-metre dash, 1,000 metres, long jump, high jump, baseball throw, and the females in the 60-metre dash, 800 metres, long jump, high jump, baseball throw.
Meanwhile, the Under-15 athletes will compete in the 80-metre dash, 1200 metres, 80-metre hurdles, long jump, high jump, baseball throw and shot putt, with the females contesting the 80-metre dash, 1,000 metres, 60-metre hurdles, long jump, high jump, baseball throw and shot putt.
St Vincent and the Grenadines, at the staging of the then Central American and Caribbean Age Group Championships in Curacao in 2013, won the Under-15 female category, as Shaffiqua Maloney was champion of that age group.
