Two teams reach Hill View Softball Cricket Competition semis

Prisons and Dr Thomas Injectors have advanced to the last four of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers’ Co-operative Credit Union’s Hill View 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition.

They did so last weekend at the competition’s venue – Keartons Playing Field.

On Saturday, Stein Joseph struck 61 and Desron Spring, 41, helped Prisons post 147 for 7 from their 20 overs.

Bowling for Hill View, Edson Williams had 2 for 10 and Macrico Ash, 2 for 23.

Hill View, in reply, were dismissed for 94 from 17 overs; Edson Williams hit a top score of 31 and Handel Browne, 21.

Doing the damage with the ball for Prisons, Keswort Lewis grabbed 3 for 22 and Peter Richards had 2 for 5, as their team won by 53 runs.

And on Sunday, Dr Thomas Injectors brushed aside Questelles Police Youth Club by 67 runs.

Dr Thomas Injectors, on the back of Elroy Nanton’s 43 and Tex Franklyn’s 28, galloped to 158 for 9 from their 20 overs.

Leading the wickets column for Questelles Police Youth Club was Kimron Williams, who snared 5 for 16 and Elroy Adams, 2 for 49.

Responding, Questelles Police Youth Club was frozen at 91 for 8 from the maximum overs allotted them. Kimron Williams was the top scorer with 18, while Damion Allen took 2 for 9 and Desron Lavia, 2 for 12, bowling for Dr Thomas Injectors.

Both Prisons and Dr Thomas Injectors will square off in Sunday’s semi-finals, while the winners of this Saturday’s remaining quarter-finals will determine the other two places.

Warriors and Summerset play each other from 12:30 p.m. and from 3 p,m., RSVG Police and Glen United are set to meet in the last quarter-final.

The final is slated for June 4.
