SVG tumble St Lucia in Windwards Senior Men’s Cricket Tournament

St Vincent and the Grenadines tumbled defending champions St Lucia, by an innings and 2 runs, in the Windward Islands senior men’s two-day cricket tournament, taking place in Dominica.

The battle of the Saints took place at Benjamin Park, with St Vincent and the Grenadines posting 354 all out in 75 overs.

Leading the way was Donwell Hector, who smashed 129 and Sunil Ambris, 96, while Miles Bascombe made 29 and Delorn Johnson, 26.

Bowling for St Lucia, Audy Alexander picked up 5 for 9 and Larry Edward, 2 for 88.

St Lucia were dismissed for 219 from 80.5 overs. Audy Alexander scored 43; Craig Emmanuel, 38, while Jamal James stroked 34 and Tarryck Gabriel, 28.

Asif Hooper led the bowling for St Vincent and the Grenadines, taking 4 for 48 and debutant Ray Jordan had 3 for 52.

Asked to follow on, St Lucia were bundled out for 133, undone by Kenneth Dember, who bagged 5 for 35 and Hooper, 2 for 64.

St Vincent and the Grenadines engaged Dominica at the Windsor Park in their second round match, which ends today, Tuesday.

The Vincentians’ final match is set for Thursday and Friday, against Grenada, also at Windsor Park.
