Teams trump in PCCU Clinchers Softball Cricket Competition


Five teams had their way in the last set of matches in the SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T/20 Softball Cricket Competition at the Richland Park Oval.

Joyous after their last fixtures were Owia Young Strikers, Street Fighters, Xtreme, Bruce Law Chambers Smashers and Gairy Construction Simple Boyz.

Owia Young Strikers, behind half centuries from Marcus Hackshaw and Zaniel Baptiste, defeated Country Meet Town Out ah Trouble Two by 76 runs.

Batting first, Owia Young Strikers reached 172 for 7 in 20 overs, with Zaniel Baptiste acoring 58, which contained 7 sixes and Marcus Hackshaw hit 2 fours and 7 sixes in his 57.

Kevin James took 3 for 28 for Out ah Trouble Two, who were then restricted to 96 for 6 from 20 overs with Danny Allen, 34, striking 3 fours and a six, having the top score.

Meanwhile, Street Fighters defeated Mt Pleasant by 105 runs. Street Fighters got to 128 from 18.3 overs, with Ozni Billingy getting 38. Eyon James took 3 for 13 and Romaro Tesheira, 3 for 14.

Mt Pleasant were then skittled out for 23 in 11.2 overs, with Derrick Hooper taking 3 for 4.

Xtreme defeated Shop for Less, Nice Radio Clinchers Two by 30 runs.

Xtreme reached 136 all out in their 20 overs, with Kensley Bobb, 50 (4 fours and 4 sixes), being the top scorer.

Bowling for Clinchers Two J-Var Caine took 3 for 10.

Clinchers Two were then dismissed for 106 in 19.2 overs, with J-var Caine getting 41, inclusive of 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Dave Cordice had 3 for 6 and Israel Baptiste, 3 for 9, bowling for Xtreme.

And, Bruce Law Chambers Smashers had easy points when Smart Strikers failed to show up; so too did Simple Boyz, as Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem also failed to field a team.

The Corea’s Distributors Player of the Weekend is Zaniel Baptiste of Owia Young Strikers, for his innings of 58.
