United Survivors in defence of Greiggs women’s softball title

Reigning champions of the Sea Operations Hairoun Brewery Greiggs Women’s 10/10 Softball Cricket Competition United Survivors began their title defence with a triumph last Sunday at the Greiggs Central Playing Field.

Facing host team Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem, United Survivors, on the back of 74 not out from Cordel Jack, posted 122 for 3 from their 20 overs.

In response, Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem reached 91 for 2, from their allotted 10 overs.

Leading the way in vain was Jenna Fredericks, who struck 66, as United Survivors prevailed by 31 runs.

In Sunday’s other fixture, Bruce Law Chambers Nar Fren Dem registered a five-run win over Owia.

Reduced to eight overs per side because of rain, Bruce Law Chambers Nar Fren Dem scored 66 for 4 from their eight overs.

Niasha Glasgow top scored with 29. Bowling for Owia, Donique De Bique snatched 2 for 11.

At their turn, Owia was hemmed in at 61 for the loss of four wickets. Vinisha King top scored with 16, while Shazean Matthias bowled her way to 3 for 8.
