All Starz dump Valley Stars in EK Softball Competition

Defending champions of the East Kingstown Sports Association Softball Cricket Competition Bank of SVG All Starz dumped Valley Stars by 11 runs, to stay in line for the title.

All Starz’s win came last Sunday at the competition’s venue, the Grammar School Playing Field.

Ron Adams hit 26, as All Starz made 100 all out in 17 overs. Sylvan Louis grabbed 4 for 26, Gaba Cordice and Lamar Cordice both took 2 for 11 and Shane Cordice, 2 for 35.

Valley Stars’ reply ended at 89 from 19.1 overs. Kimron Williams was the lead batsman with 24, while Ron Adams had figures of 3 for 9 and Desmond Bramble, 2 for 2.

Other winners on the weekend were Just For the Fun, Fyah One, Dr Thomas Injectors and Guidance.

On Saturday, Just For the Fun eked out a one-wicket win over Vengeance.

Vengeance laboured to 69 for 4 from their 20 overs. Edwin Payne led with 30.

Bowling for Just For the Fun, Julius London took 2 for 16 and Stein Joseph, 2 for 25.

Joseph smashed 31, as Just For the Fun scraped home at 70 for 9 from 15. 3 overs. Travis Cumberbatch, with 5 for 10 and Eldon Morris, 3 for 8, threatened to take Vengeance to victory.

Also on Saturday, Fyah One registered a 58-run win over Snipers.

Fyah One posted 125 for 9 from their 20 overs; Oneil Sayers took 2 for 12, Jason Williams, 2 for 14 and Raymond Sayers, 2 for 21, bowling for Snipers.

Gosnel Toney snared 3 for 17 and Keithlyn Williams and Israel Baptiste both had 2 for 11, as Snipers collapsed for 67 from 15.2 overs.

On Sunday, Dr Thomas Injectors, last year’s losing finalist, saw off Ottley Hall by six wickets.

Ottley Hall were dismissed for 58 in 13.3 overs, with Chet Thompson taking 5 for 12, Oneil Edwards, 2 for 10 and Kezron Ashton, 2 for 11. Dr Thomas Injectors replied with 59 for 4.

And, Guidance had a nine-wicket win over Combine Rangers.

Undone by the bowling of Mesach Lewis, 3 for 3, Eddie Mayers, 3 for 18 and Lavell Miller, 2 for 15, Combine Rangers were shot out for 44.

Guidance responded with 47 for the loss of one wicket.
