Fyah One blazes in East Kingstown Softball Cricket

Fyah One ignited the Grammar School Playing Field on Sunday, April 30 to burn up Vengeance by 81 runs in the East Kingstown Sports Association 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition.

Israel Baptiste lashed 56 not out, Jerando Jardine, 34 and Collin Williams, 20, as Fyah One posted 186 for 6 from their 20 overs. Kerwin Gould was Vengeance’s most successful bowler, taking 2 for 43.

Travis Cumberbatch then slammed 8 sixes in his 61, but that was insufficient, as Vengeance fell for 105 in 14.3 overs.

Cornelius Emmons, 3 for 12 and Israel Baptiste, 2 for 28, shared the bulk of the wickets, bowling for Fyah One.

On Saturday, Customs got past Guidance by 25 runs in a low scoring affair.

Kuthbert Spring top scored with 30 in Customs’ total of 79 all out off 19.1 overs. Customs’ innings was stifled by Menton Lewis, who had 3 for 34 and Lavell Miller, 2 for 13.

However, Troy Harry, 2 for 15 and Anthony Baynes, 2 for 22, combined to dismiss Guidance for 54 from 15.2 overs.

Saturday’s other fixture saw United Two winning by default from Ottley Hall Rangers.

Meanwhile, there were wins for Buccament and Bank of SVG All Starz on Sunday.

Buccament overcame Richards Masters by six wickets.

Richards Masters were cornered by the bowling of Leon Layne, 2 for 4 and Reynold Quashie, 2 for 14, and could only manage 72 for 5 from their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Buccament reached 73 for 4 from just 8.4 overs, as Hector Corridon made 19 not out.

Gary Browne, 2 for 31 and Olanzo Gabriel, 2 for 33, shared the wickets that fell.

And All Starz had a five-wicket triumph over Buccament.

Buccament made 83 all out from 17.3 overs, as Kelly Murray grabbed 3 for 9, Kelvin Lorraine, 2 for 14 and Dwayne Williams, 2 for 16.

All Starz replied with 87 for 5; Asquith Mapp made 29.

Bowling for Buccament, Leon Layne grabbed 2 for 6 and Javid Gibson, 2 for 18.
