SVGCC signs MOU with WIPA
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the SVG Community College and the West Indies Playersâ Association (WIPA) was signed last Tuesday evening at the Presidentâs Suite at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
Signing on behalf of WIPA was Nixon Mc Lean, a former St Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and West Indies fast bowler, while director Nigel Scott signed on behalf of the SVG Community College.
Mc Lean, who is WIPAâs treasurer, stated ââ¦We recognize that there is life after cricket and our members are very important to us⦠We have signed MOUs with other tertiary institutions around the region and this partnership with the (SVG) Community College is very important ⦠We are encouraging our members to be part of this to develop their life after cricketâ.
In welcoming the establishment of the co-operation, Scott beamed, âThis is an excellent agreement and the college is happy to be part of it⦠I have seen sportsmen suffer because they had to go off to play sport with no arrangements within the institution to keep up and catch up with their academic work. I think this is an opportunity to partner with WIPA to ensure that this does not happen againâ.
This new move will see cricketersâ welfare being looked after, while still being able to be active in the sport.
