PCCU Clinchers Softball Cricket weekend gets full slate

A full slate of five matches in the SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T/20 Softball Cricket Competition took place last weekend at the Richland Park Oval.

Licking their lips from the sweet taste of victory were Street Fighters, Shop for Less/Nice Radio Clinchers One, Dr Thomas Injectors, Calder United and CGM Gallagher Novice.

On Saturday, Street Fighters defeated Country Meets Town Outa Trouble Two by nine wickets.

Outa Trouble Two scored 77 for 6 from their 20 overs, to which Street Fighters replied with 80 for 1 from 8.2 overs.

Leroy Danzel’s 51 not out crafted Street Fighters’ win.

Also on Saturday, Clinchers One whipped Sea Operation Nar Fren Dem by seven wickets.

Nar Fren Dem reached 71 for 7 from 16.5 overs; Keno Matthews top scored with 49.

Bowling for Clinchers One, Donaldson Harry grabbed 3 for 5 from 3 overs.

Clinchers One, in response, made 72 for 3 from 8.1 overs. Donwell Hector slammed 46 not out in Clinchers One’s big win.

On Sunday, Dr Thomas Injectors led off the victors, with a four-wicket win over Bruce Law Chambers Smashers.

Delano Woodley, who smashed 44 not out, saw Smashers to 105 for 5 from their 20 overs.

Damion Allen took 3 for 23, to be Dr Thomas Injectors’s best bowler.

Allen then hit 44 and with Kezron Ashton, 31 not out, Dr Thomas Injectors responded with 109 for 6 from 17.3 overs.

Shayon Pope picked off 3 for 17, bowling for Smashers.

Meanwhile, former title holders of the competition Novice pulped Log Enterprise Supreme Strikers by eight wickets.

Supreme Strikers’ 69 for 9 from 20 overs was as a result of Donte Williams taking 4 for 8.

Roderick John, 29 and Elton Williams, 28 not out, put Novice up to 70 for 2 from 10 overs.

The other match scheduled saw Calder United winning from Sion Hill Tallawahs by default.

Damion Allen of Dr Thomas Injectors, who took 3 for 23 and scored 44 against Smashers, was adjudged the Coreas Distributors Player of the Weekend.
