No medals for Zita at Carifta Games

Zita Vincent recorded her personal bests in the 800 and 1,500m Female Under-18 and the 3,000 metres Open at the 46th staging of the Carifta Games last weekend at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Curaçao.

However, her times were not good enough to land her a medal.

Vincent docked in fourth in the 800m and 3,000m and was fifth in the 1,500m.

She was able to shave off almost eight seconds in the 800m, bettering her previous best of 2 minutes 25 seconds, by clocking 2 minutes 18.35 seconds last Monday in Curacao.

In the 3,000m, Vincent clocked 10 minutes 48.31 seconds, as she bested the mark of 10 minutes 54 seconds, which was her fastest over the distance.

And, in the 1,500m, Vincent did 5 minutes 02.41 seconds, leaving her previous best mark of 5 minutes 05 seconds, to fall flat.

Vincent got her first taste of the Carifta Games last year in Grenada, and competing in the 3,000m Open, she placed seventh in 11 minutes 00.04 seconds.

She also ran the Under-18 1,500m; however, she did not complete the race.

Come 2018, Vincent will have to go up to the Under-20 age category, as the Under-18 division will revert to the Under-17, when the 47th edition of the Carifta Games take place in The Bahamas.
