SVGCC, Victors Two win in NLA Sunday League

French Verandah SVG Community College and Victors Two trampled Prime Consulting Marriaqua and Triumph United respectively, in the latest round of matches in the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) First Division, known as the Sunday League.

The SVG Community College (SVGCC), last year’s losing finalists, had a 10-wicket win over Marriaqua at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field in Group B.

Marriaqua could not withstand the bowling of Ronaldo Franklyn – 4/13 and Jeremy Haywood – 4/27, and folded for 93 in 30.2 overs. Kimon John struck 26 and Jamali Wales – 22, to be the main scorers.

In response, openers Kodyy Horne – 42 not out and Jahiel Walters – 28 not out, along with 24 extras to the good, moored the SVG Community College across the line, as they reached 94 for no loss.

In similar fashion at the Sion Hill Playing Field, Victors Two powered past Triumph United by 106 runs in a Group A fixture.

Victors Two, on the back of Lionel Cumberbatch’s 52 and Shamic Roberts’ 25, posted 186 all out in 41.3 overs. Bowling for Triumph United, Konaka Smith took 3/46 and Ahmed Baptiste – 2/40.

Triumph United were run over for 80 in 15.5 overs. They were dismantled by Adinol Richards, who bagged 6/42 and Leon Quashie – 3/3.

Triumph United’s total was propped up by 27 extras conceded by Victors Two and Rohan Ash, who top scored, as he struck 25 at the top of the order.

The competition takes a break this weekend, making way for the regional four-day match between the Windwards Volcanoes and the Jamaica Scorpions at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.(RT)
