SVGTTA announces plans for business houses’ tournament

The Executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines table Tennis Association (SVGTTA) has announced plans for the annual National Firms Industrial, or “Business Houses.” Tournament, from April 18- 29, 2017.

The Firms Tournament is designed for employees to have fun, with some element of competition, and is intended to improve the physical and mental well-being of those who participate. It is also intended to bring the business community close together and encourage recreational play and physical exercise among the working population.

Through this tournament, the SVGTTA seeks to encourage lifelong table tennis players; to ensure fun and that matches are relatively evenly contested. No present or former national players are allowed to play in these games.

According to a release: “Our expectation is that your company would sponsor, or enter a team in these events. Each team will consist of three to five players. Firms can enter more than one team if so desired. A minimum contribution of $150 is required for each team to participate.”

The SVGTTA will make racquets available for those who do not own one and practice sessions can be arranged at the West St George Secondary School or the St Vincent Grammar School.

This year’s tournament will be staged at the St Vincent Grammar School.
