Stein Joseph ignites PCCU Softball Cricket Competition

Former national Under-19 cricketer Stein Joseph engineered former champions of the St Vincent and the Grenadines, Police Co- operative Credit Union Clinchers T/20 Softball Cricket Competition Gairy Construction Simple Boyz to an eight-wicket triumph last Saturday at the Richland Park Oval.

Joseph pulped 5 sixes and a four in his 46 not out, to see Simple Boyz to 80/2 versus Shop For Less Nice Radio Clinchers.

Simple Boyz was replying to Clinchers lame effort of 78, in which Donwell Hector top scored with 29.

Stein Joseph was the destroyer of Clinchers’ innings, taking 4/7.

In Saturday’s other match, Sion Hill Tallawahs defeated Xtreme by five wickets.

Xtreme, batting first, were restricted to 89/6 off their allotment of 20 overs.

Kendall Buntyn struck 4 fours and 3 sixes in his 40, while Irwin Williams had 3/16, bowling for Sion Hill Tallawahs.

In response, Sion Hill Tallawahs rallied to 94/5. Israel Baptiste took 3/25, bowling for Xtreme.

On Sunday, Mount Pleasant defeated Snipers, also by five wickets.

Snipers made 75/9 from their 20 overs; Benito Deane had 3/18 and Raffique Joe 3/22. Mount Pleasant replied with 80/5 from 13.2 overs, while Raymond Sayers took 2/10.

In another fixture, Fully Loaded Ballerz bettered Carrier Blazers by 50 runs.

Fully Loaded Ballerz scored 109 all out in 19.5 overs. Ronique James scored 45 (5×6, 1×4), while Xavier Edwards grasped 4/19.

Carrier Blazers packed it in at 59 from 13.2 overs; Kentish Richards picked up 6/4.

Also in the winners’ column were Owia Young Strikers, who defeated Street Fighters by two wickets.

Street Fighters, from their 20 overs posted 116/8. Leroy Dalzell‘s 48, saw him lacing 6 sixes and 4 fours, while Derek Hooper’s 3/23, was Owia Young Strikers’ best bowling effort.

Owia Young Strikers reached 120/8 in 17 overs. Marcus Hackshaw made 40 (4×6, 2×4) and Zaniel Baptiste, 38 (3×6, 3×4).

Another five matches are scheduled for this weekend at the same venue.

On Saturday from 12:30 p.m., Snipers take on Country Meet Town Outa Trouble Two and from 3 p.m. – Country meet Town Outa Trouble One, the defending champions, face Bank of SVG All Stars.

Sunday’s matches see Warriors Sports Club versus Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem from 9:30 a.m., then set for a 12:30 p.m. commencement – Shop for Less, Nice Radio Clinchers Two host Log Enterprise Supreme Strikers and from 3 p.m., Shop for Less, Nice Radio Clinchers One battle Fully Loaded Ballerz.(RT)
