SVGVA completes election of executive

The executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Volleyball Association (SVGVA) was completed last Tuesday at an extraordinary meeting held at the St Vincent Grammar School.

Installed were vice-president – Jomadean May, while the post of secretary is in the hands of Onika Morgan, with the treasurer’s post going to Shaquille Brancker.

All posts were filled unopposed.

Taking up the committee members’ spots were Andrew Bramble, Nikita Campbell and Earl Bennett. The trio ousted Devon Williams and Jamal Small, who also sought to be elected.

The newly-filled positions join Suzanna Leigertwood-Ollivierre, who was elected as president at the first attempt of elections held January 28, at the Girls’ High School.

Then, there was no one else was available to fill the positions, and last Saturday, at the same Girls’ High School venue, the meeting could not proceed beyond an opening prayer, call to order and the roll call.

At that juncture it was realized that there was not the 50 per cent, plus one of the 15 eligible voters; hence, there was a lack of a quorum.

The new executive has a four-year mandate.
