GSS double up again in schools’ volleyball
The Georgetown Secondary School (GSS), for the third straight year, captured both the male and female segments of the Schoolsâ Volleyball Competition.
In this, the sixth edition of the competition, the GSS males completed the hat-trick, to mirror a similar feat attained by the George Stephens Senior Secondary, from 2012 to 2014.
Meanwhile, the GSS females achieved their beaver-trick, with their fourth lien on the title.
The GSS achievement came last Friday at the Girlsâ High School court.
The GSS males side-stepped first-time finalists West St George Secondary 3-1, trumping 22-25, 26-24, 25-8, 25-14, while the females inflicted a hat-trick of defeats on the Girlsâ High School, winning in straight sets, 25-12, 25-19, 25-17.
To set up last Fridayâs finals, the GSS males humbled the George Stephens Senior Secondary 2-1, while West St George had a 2-0 sets win over the Petit Bordel Secondary.
And in the females semis, the GSS got past West St George 2-0 and Girlsâ High School stopped the Thomas Saunders Secondary also 2-0.
George Stephens Senior Secondary held on to their third place achieved last year, by beating Petit Bordel two sets to one and West St George again took the bronze, drubbing Thomas Saunders, two sets to nil.
From this competition, selectors will attempt to put together the best set of players who will go on to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines at the annual Windward Islands Schools Games, set to be hosted here in July/August.
