Last Friday, speaking from Subway’s base on James Street, general manager at Subway Tanisha Browne said that Subway is glad to be part of the System 3 team, as the club provides a service to hundreds of children in the country.

“System 3 is a great club, unlike any other we have observed here. They cater to a large [number] of the nation’s children from all walks of life and we are proud to be able to support such an initiative,” said Browne.

She said that System 3, like Subway, promotes and supports healthy lifestyles and that is another reason why they decided to throw their support behind the club, which has been providing their services to the public since 1997.

Commenting, managing director at Subway Ryan Gonsalves said that System’s 3 plans and projections for 2016 and beyond are commendable, as the sports club is playing an important role in the development of the nation’s youths.

“We at Subway are glad that we can be a part of the physical development of so many of the nation’s children and sportspeople,” said Gonsalves.

Sardine, the main man behind System 3, thanked Subway for their input into the sports academy. He said that Subway’s generosity will go a long way in helping the academy establish its mandate of promoting soccer at the grassroot level.

“A lot of the children who come to the academy are from less fortunate backgrounds, so Subway’s help is surely a blessing that will go a long way in helping us out at the grassroot level. We are very happy to be able to form such a partnership,” said Sardine.

System 3 and Ian Sardine, names synonymous with soccer in St Vincent and the Grenadines, cater to under-7 youngsters straight up to adult players.

The academy has an enrolment of 235 youth, both male and female, and 124 males and 32 females that play with the club in the older age groups. However, a large number of youths, not enrolled in the club, usually turn up to training sessions at random and are welcomed and not turned away by the acad-emy’s coaching staff.

Sardine said that the academy is aspiring to develop the Vincentian children of today into the model members of society, through the use of sport, among other things.

Subway’s contribution will also go towards the academy’s August youth soccer competition.
