Young female athletes medal at Hampton International Games

The six young females who represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at the staging of the Hampton International Games at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad last weekend, all medalled at the event.{{more}}

The quartet of Darria Matthias, Zamesha Myle, Lafesha France and Shantel Williams took gold in the 4x100m girls Under-18. The Vincentians’ winning time was 49.38 seconds.

Also taking gold in the 1500m was Zita Vincent, whose time was 5 minutes 14.57 seconds. Placing second was Tamara Woodley in 5 minutes 21.21 seconds, as St Vincent and the Grenadines finished one and two in the Under-16 category.

Woodley claimed her second silver in the Under-16, 800m run. Her time was 2 minutes 28.36 seconds.

Competing in the Under-18, Williams placed second in the 400m. Her timing was 59.99 seconds.

The Vincentians contested in other events, but did not medal.

Matthias was fourth in the Under-16, 100m, while France placed fifth in the 400m, also in that age group.

Vincent was fourth in the 800m, in 2 minutes 33.32 seconds; Williams placed fifth in the 200m Under-18 in 25.31 seconds and Myle – fifth in the 200m Under-16, clocking 25.90 seconds.
