Police swooping down on Bagga Softball Cricket title again

RSVG Police have placed round the clock surveillance on the Hairoun Beer Bagga Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition.

The defending champions tightened the grip on retaining the title when they evaded ECWI Spring by 25 runs last Saturday at the Keartons Playing Field, to set up a meeting with Hillview from 3 p.m. this Saturday.{{more}}

Police, sent in to bat, posted 125 for 5 in the reduced 15 overs. Roderick John led from the start to finish unbeaten on 73.

Spring, in reply, was stifled by the bowling of Kenroy Martin – 3 for 21. Edson Williams made 29, as ECWI Spring only managed 100 for 5 from their 15 overs.

Also on Saturday, Valley Boys rose to oust Topsidaz by a massive 124 runs.

Choosing to bat, Valley Boys rode on the back of 119 not out from Stein Joseph, who reports say made good of a few chances, to see his team to 174 for 3 in their 20 overs.

Topsidaz’s response was lame, as they fell for 50 in 16.3 overs. Winston Bascombe took 2 for 6.

On Sunday, Prisons and Hillview booked their places in the last four, with triumphs over Glen United and TCCU Suprizers, respectively.

Prisons redeemed themselves with a 15-run win over Glen United.

Prisons took first knock and were 82 for 7 at the end of 20 overs, to which Glen United replied with 67 all out in 16.5 overs.

Winston Samuel grabbed 4 for 9, to bowl Prisons a place in the semis on Saturday, where they will entertain Valley Boys from 12:45 p.m.

Hillview’s bowlers combined to dismiss Suprizers for 79 in 19.3 overs; Neville Williams hit 28.

Milton Trumpet proved to be the pick of Hillview’s bowling, taking 3 for 7.

Hillview responded with 80 in 18.2 overs.

The winners of Saturday’s semi-finals meet in Sunday’s final, which is set for a 2 p.m. bowl off.
