Calliaqua United: champions again in national basketball

The script was written again last Sunday night at the New Montrose basketball court, when Aycees Calliaqua United remained seated on the throne of National Club Basketball for yet another year.{{more}}

Calliaqua United did not use up much energy in dismissing Mattafix Playaz 70-46.

Both teams had come into the encounter, but it was Calliaqua who left high and dry holding on to their unblemished record for the 2015 season.

Before getting to last Sunday’s championship match, Calliaqua had defeated Bequia United 98-88, while Playaz had a 78-76 downing of Mavrix in the semi-finals match-up.

Also last Sunday, there was the final match in the women’s division, and it was another lopsided affair, as Lady Bustas blew out H & H Oral Dental Care Lady Advent Ballerz 92-17.

They were the only teams that participated.

Like Calliaqua, Bustas retained their claim on the title.

Calliaqua’s Lezlo Mc Lenzie was named most valuable player of the male tournament and Anella Samuel was adjudged the corresponding recipient in the women’s category.

Bequia took the third spot on Saturday with a 68-65 scoreline over Mavrix.
