The business end of the competition takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the Keartons Playing Field.

Valley Boys play Topsidaz from 12:45 p.m., to be followed by RSVG Police against ECWI Spring. On Sunday, Glen United face off with Prisons from 12:30 p.m. and TCCU Suprizers take aim at Hillview from 2:30 p.m.

Last weekend saw the last set of preliminary round matches taking place. Prisons, though, lost their second match, going under to Guidance by 38 runs.

Guidance decided to bat first and chalked up 93 all out in 16.2 overs. Chester Hendrickson, with 28, was the top scorer.

Everton Malcolm grabbed 4 for 11 in the process, but Prisons succumbed for 55 in 10.1 overs. Lavell Miller trumped with the ball, taking 3 for 11.

Earlier on Saturday, ECWI Spring cemented their quarter-final position by beating Buccament by 48 runs.

Spring posted 120 for 8 in 20 overs. Edson Williams struck 42.

Renrick Quashie and Kelroy Warner took 3 for 14 and 3 for 16 respectively in their four-over spells. Buccament’s fight ended in 17.2 overs, as they were bowled out for 73.

Rickel Stapleton returned figures of 3 for 13.

The lone completed encounter on Sunday saw Suprizers keeping their unbeaten run intact with a nine-wicket defeat of South Leeward.

Taking first strike, South Leeward were dismissed for 90 in 18.1overs. Suprizers’ reply was with some authority, by Calvert Cordice slamming 50 not out, to see his team to 95 for 1 in 9.2 overs. (RT)
