SVG Rugby Union names squad for NACRA 2015

The SVG Rugby Union has announced their 12-member squad to travel to North Carolina, USA, to take part in the North America Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) sevens Olympic Qualifier this June 2015.{{more}}

Seven-a-side rugby will appear in the Olympics for the first time in the 2016 games in Rio, Brazil and the NACRA annual tournament will this year act as the qualifier. Since the close of the 15-a-side league, which saw St Vincent and the Grenadines place 2nd in the South Zone Cup, the Union has been preparing and training for sevens rugby.

Twelve countries have confirmed their participation in the tournament and the senior men will face tough competition, with matches against countries such as Jamaica, Trinidad, Mexico, USA South and Guyana.

The members of the squad are: Andrew Phillips (captain), Benson Nanton, Aniso Lewis, Kimran Barnum, Gilan Comas, Godfrey Matthews, Dellon Durant, Leonard Matthews, Recardo Dalloway, Dougal James, Shane Samuel and Leon McKenzie.
