Vincentian woman tops 5K in T&T Police Week of Athletics

AB Shantel Compton of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Coastguard, representing the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force was the first female to cross the finish line in the 5k road race staged on Sunday in Port of Spain, Trinidad.{{more}}

Compton, reports say, was among 50 females who participated in the event. She placed 25th overall out of 200 runners.

The road race formed part of the 92nd staging of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Week of Athletics.

The preliminary phase of the track and field is set for Wednesday, with the finals slated for Saturday at the Police Grounds in Port of Spain.

Apart from Compton, national sprinter Josh Hamilton, who is pursuing studies in Trinidad, is part of the Vincentian representation.

The Vincentian team is being managed by Dominique Stowe.
