United Insurance continues support of Secondary Schools Cricket Competition

United Insurance Company Limited continues its support of the annual Inter-Secondary Schools’ Under-21 Cricket competition.

Ranold Iton, local representative from United’s local agency, recently handed over the sponsorship cheque to the Ministry of Physical Education and Sports. This supports ensures the continuation of this major youth cricket championship. Iton commended the Ministry for its consistent efforts in ensuring the development of this country’s young cricketers.{{more}}

Again this year, Sandy Bay Secondary School are the defending champions and they will match skills with 15 other secondary school teams, in their bid to reach the finals in March. The competition got underway on Wednesday, February 4 and continues until March 23, 2015.

United Insurance Company Limited has been sponsoring this Secondary Schools Competition in St Vincent and the Grenadines and the OECS for more than 25 years. The main objective of the Secondary School Cricket Competition is to identify talented junior cricketers in the OECS, help develop their skills and serve as a nursery for their overall development.

This is in keeping with United’s commitment to youth development across the 14 territories in which it operates, via support of programmes which use sport to impart important life skills to the region’s youth.
