Thanks to the benevolence of Carlos James, also a native of North Leeward, Lewisâ airfare to Barbados was paid for, enabling him to attend the meet.
Lewis said he was happy for Jamesâ timely intervention.
âI am glad for the help … I am especially looking forward to Saturday and to do my best, as it would be the first time for me running on a synthetic track,â Lewis said.
Meanwhile, head of the IT-DAT Academy, Michael Ollivierre, said that Jamesâ contribution was an ease to at least one person; however, they were still short of meeting the target.
âOne thing for sure, we are going to Barbados to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines and do so with our best efforts,â Ollivierre projected.
James said he was happy to help Lewis, given that he was one of North Leewardâs budding athletes.
James noted that he had the privilege of being tutored by Ollivierre, while he was a university student in Jamaica some years ago; hence there is always that connection.
IT-DAT used this publication last month to appeal for help, and James was one of the individuals who responded in the affirmative.
At the Relay Fair, IT-DAT will be represented by a 25 member team. The Relay Fair takes place at the Barbados National Stadium.
It is the first time the academy will be represented at the event.(RT)
