Kineke Alexander again holds Senior Sportswoman of the Year title

Kineke Alexander, for the second year in a row, was named the Senior Sportswoman of the Year, at the National Sports Awards.

Rewarded for her efforts during the year of adjudication – 2014, Alexander accumalated her points for her regional and international outings.{{more}}

Based in the United States of America, Alexander popped gold in the 200 and 400 metres at the OECS Invitational held in St Kitts, last June.

Internationally, she reached the final of the 400 metres at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, as well as the Central America and Caribbean Games in Mexico, placing sixth on both occasions.

Also at the Glasgow Games, she reached the semi-finals of the 200 m.

Alexander returned to Mexico and earned a fourth place in the Pan Am Festival, also in the 400 metres.

During 2014, Alexander reeled off her personal bests in the 60 m dash indoor in Houston Texas, and in the 400 m, returning times of 7.34 seconds and 51.23 seconds respectively.

Alexander established a new meet record at the Reville Indoor Invitational in the USA in the 200 metres, shaving the previous record of 23.72 seconds to 23.65 seconds.

The allocation of points for the senior awardees shows national and regional performances gaining a maximum 20 points, with international efforts guaranteed 15 points.

Additionally, general deportment gets 20 points, leadership qualities — 15 points and contribution to and impact on the sport — 10 points.
