IT- DAT successfully defends National Relay Classic

IT-DAT Academy ran off with the National Relay Classic title for the second time in as many years, outpointing the other teams last Saturday at the Victoria Park.

When the points were tallied, IT-DAT ended with 389, with the males accumulating 208 and the females 181.{{more}}

Trailing IT-DAT was Negative To Positive (N2P), whose total stopped at 337 points; distributed, 124 – males and 213 accounted for by the females.

With a total of 174 points was the Thomas Saunders Secondary, which gave that institution the third place. Responsible for the Thomas Saunders’ final tally, were the males 82 and the females 92.

Meanwhile, System Three placed fourth with 158 points. The males of System Three compiled 76 points and the females 82.

Rounding up the five top places was the all male institution — the St Martin’s Secondary School with 124 points.

The other participating teams were X-Ceed Sports Club, Club X-Cel, Calliaqua Anglican School, Bequia United, Greathead, the Girls’ High School, the Questelles Government School, the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua, Lightning, the St Vincent Grammar School and the Intermediate High School.

Contingents from IT-DAT, the Thomas Saunders Secondary School and the St Vincent Grammar School are expected to be part of the Barbados Relay Fair this Saturday.

Last Saturday’s activity was hailed as a success, despite the weather which delayed the start.

Schools, as well as technical officials, used the National Relay Classic to gauge their readiness for the widely anticipated Inter Primary and Inter-Secondary Schools’ championships.(RT)
